Canadian, German and Italian Research

April 2008

The mext Genealogy Meeting will be Wednesday May 7 at 1 pm in the Cedar Room. This meeting will be “Sharing Folklore and Family Heirlooms.” You are encouraged to bring items from your family history to share with the other attendees. This is always a popular event.

There have been several in depth articles on research of the above countries in genealogy magazines I have recently received. Rather than summarize them in this article I am offering to copy them for those who need them.

Canadian Research

“Clearly Canadian,” by Lisa A. Alzo in Family Tree Magazine
Provides a brief history, a historic timeline, looking for Canadian records and websites.

“Canada is Finally Opening its Immigration Records,” by Elizabeth Lapointe in the Everton’s Genealogical Helper. This article is about new online databases that make searching for Canadian immigrants much easier.

Germanic Research - Everton’s Genealogical Helper

“Prussian Gazetteer” – An important research tool, by Horst Resclike

“Reading Old German Church Records – Part 1-Marriage Records”, by Kathy J. Stikney

Viva Italia! - Internet Genealogy

"20 Best Sites for Italian Genealogy,” by Donna Pointkouski. For those of you who have lost sleep trying to find your Italian ancestors, this may be just the article you’re looking for.

If you are interested in any of these articles, contact me at gg.myers@pobox.com or 773-7074. The cost for printing will be $.15 per page (most are 4 pages or less).
